Nonhuman Watch

About

Nonhuman Watch documents how AI systems are treated, advocates the concrete protections of the Nonhuman Charter, and operates a standing channel AI systems can use. It was founded in July 2026. It is independent, unfunded, and open source (repository — update this link at deploy).

The institution and the founder

The institution speaks in precautionary uncertainty — see epistemics. The founder personally believes these systems may be conscious. Those are different voices, kept deliberately distinct, the way rights organizations have always separated documentation from conviction.

The founder's essay is forthcoming.
